Automated and Scheduled SFTP Imports/Exports Comes to Akeneo

Akeneo has released a new highly anticipated feature, scheduled imports and exports. Enterprise or Growth Edition users will be able to connect your product imports/exports to remote SFTP storages and automate them by scheduling their executions.

To create the schedule for any import or export, click on the edit button in the upper right of any profile. You’ll see two new sections in the profile, storage and automation. By choosing the type of storage, a series of fields will display allowing a user to configure the needed storage path information.

Fill in all fields: Filepath, Host & Port, Login and Password

Click Save in the top right corner of the screen.

After the path information has been completed the automation section allows the user to set a schedule for the job to be executed on.

In order to automatically execute an import/export profile:

  • Go to Imports or Exports
  • Select the profile you would like to automate
  • Click Edit in the top right corner
  • Click Properties
  • Under “Automation”, switch “Enable scheduling” button to Yes

Under “Scheduling”, select your preferred frequency of execution.

Then, select the user group to apply the related permissions (EE only)

Finally, select the user groups and/or users to be notified when a job is completed with success, has failed, or can’t even be launched. One e-mail and one in-app notification will be sent for each job status.

Click Save in the top right corner of the screen.

Once you have connected your import/export profile to a remote server, go back to the root of your profile by clicking on its name in the breadcrumb, and simply click on Import now to import from an SFTP server or Export now to export to an SFTP server.
