It’s a brand new year and we are bursting at the seams to announce that a piece of our past will be a part of our future. C2 is thrilled to welcome back Erica Ferland as Senior Systems Engineer, joining our Enterprise Systems Group.
Erica is no stranger to C2 and its mission. In fact, she has already worked for us for over a decade. After a brief hiatus, she’s back at the helm, and we couldn’t be happier.
Here are a few things to know about our veteran engineer:
1. An Unlikely Career Arc
When Erica attended Skidmore College, she never had plans to enter IT. In fact, she originally had plans to be an equine vet. Early into her college experience, she decided that her talents were less suited to animal health. She gave up on a life dodging hooves. Instead, she began to grapple with different liberal arts majors–until her college offered her a position on their IT team.
In the years that followed, Erica built the student network and ultimately ran her own team. Intrigued by a burgeoning field, she decided to pursue her side job as a career upon graduation. She has over 20 years of experience in IT, and 15 years as a Senior Systems Engineer.
2. A Veteran Returns
Erica is excited to return to C2 after a three-year hiatus. The joy in her work, she says, comes from solving problems for people. At C2, she gets to find the right technology solutions for businesses while improving their security and performance. As a people person at heart, she gets to work with people while solving puzzles at the same time–it really is the best of both worlds.
3. A Mover and a Shaker
When she is not at work, Erica likes to have fun in the sun–or any weather in any season–for that matter. She hikes, kayaks, and takes advantage of Vermont’s plentiful bass fishing opportunities. She travels extensively and plans at least two international trips a year. She also has two golden retrievers who compete in agility shows through the American Kennel Club.
We’re thrilled that Erica has rejoined our team, and we look forward to her work in 2018 and beyond. What are you looking forward to doing this year?
