User Experience Architect

Position Summary
C2 is growing our User Experience Design team and is seeking a User Experience Architect to translate business requirements into innovative, usable and technically feasible user experiences. The successful candidate will be the user advocate and lead the user experience design lifecycle within the project, including working with clients to gather requirements, creating a wide-range of requirements and designs, gathering user feedback and working closely with the development team to implement the designs. We are seeking a team player who thrives on collaboration and has experience working within interdisciplinary teams, including developers and visual designers.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct competitive and user research, profiling and analysis to inform requirements as well as usability testing and heuristic evaluations to improve the experience
  • Create universally-understandable requirements, designs and documentation including detailed navigational models, site maps, wireframes and prototypes, process flows, task modeling, content structure, page templates, interface specifications and functional specifications
  • Create document taxonomies and/or enhance usability through hierarchy optimization and the design of supporting features and functionality
  • Facilitate group sessions with the client to identify and refine functional, content and data requirements
  • Analyze and evaluate design/usability challenges and implement effective design solutions
  • Provide thought leadership and best practice guidance regarding knowledge management and web-based business productivity applications

Knowledge, Skills & Certifications

  • A degree in a related field, such as information design, human-computer interaction, psychology, sociology, anthropology, information architecture, usability, design library science, cognitive science, graphic design or industrial design a plus
  • Four+ years of experience working as an information architect, interaction designer, or user experience designer or related position
  • Understanding of user-centered design, usability, information design and interaction design
  • Experience with knowledge management and business productivity web applications (such as SharePoint)
  • Proven track record of translating business requirements into highly usable, best-in-class designs for websites and web-based applications
  • Experience using prototyping/wire framing tools such as Microsoft Visio, Serena Composer, OmniGraffle, Axure, Illustrator or similar
  • Experience with the capabilities of HTML, DHTML, CSS and rich media such as Flash/Flex or AJAX; visual design skills and experience with client-side programming (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) are desirable
  • Experience designing Knowledge Management/Document Management, Collaboration and B2C eCommerce solutions a plus
  • Technical certifications a plus
  • Consulting experience is desirable
  • Portfolio of recent work is required
