Virtualization of Desktops and Servers
Virtualization software technologies are delivering valuable solutions for many common IT challenges in areas such as server consolidation and containment, business continuity, test and development optimization, and desktop management.
When reducing server population by as much as 90% through virtualization, organizations are reaping the benefits of reduced costs in hardware, maintenance, and power bills while at the same time establishing business continuity capabilities previously unobtainable due to cost. Companies wanting to replace traditional desktops are deploying server-based desktops because it reduces desktop deployment and management costs while securing business data.
Through our relationships with energy conservation organizations, our Greenfield Virtualization Lab, and our partnership with VMware, C2 is a leader in the New England area in implementing virtualization solutions.
Energy Conservation Programs and RelationshipsEnergy conservation groups and local utility companies are interested in seeing customers go virtual because it significantly reduces power consumption in the data center and CO2 emissions at the power plant. C2 hss developed relationships with local utility companies and energy conservation groups to maximize the return on investment through rebates and incentives for customers seeking virtualization technologies. For example, with C2’s support, Efficiency Vermont provided a rebate to Merchants Bank for consolidating 19 physical servers to two servers. Since then, Merchants Bank has virtualized 14 additional servers without purchasing any server hardware in more than a year and a half. C2 is also developing incentive programs with other local utility companies for the benefit of our clients.

C2 is the only VMware partner in Vermont to have a fully functional server and desktop virtualization lab. This lab is used to demonstrate the benefits of server and desktop virtualization, and for clients to explore the technologies hands-on and with their own applications.
VMware Partnership
C2 is the only VMware Infrastructure Partner (VIP) Enterprise and VMware Authorized Consultant (VAC) partner in Vermont. These partnership levels enable us to integrate VMware lessons learned, preferred practices, and intellectual property into our projects. C2 has a dedicated virtualization solutions team focused on the needs of our clients in New England.
