Adding rich media to Simon Pearce web site boosts new customer conversions and overall shopping experience

Situation

The Simon Pearce web site worked well for existing customers. For those who already owned Simon Pearce’s premium hand blown glass or handmade pottery, the site provided a means to shop at home and to keep up with new product offerings. But how do you convey the quality and simple elegance of a Simon Pearce product via the web to someone who has never experienced it firsthand? With a goal to gain new customers and a marketing campaign designed to draw new customers to the web site, the site needed to speak to this new audience. The answer was Scene7’s rich media capabilities.

With the Simon Pearce web site built on a C2 commerce solution, it was already designed to grow and evolve as business needs changed and C2 was able to readily add the new merchandising tools. C2 used industry-leading Scene7 rich media to add zoom and pan functions to the online store. These effective features help site visitors experience the products more fully and to appreciate the quality, simple elegance, and detail of the product line.

Results

“The addition of zoom view to our web site,” says Kelli Pippin, Marketing Director at Simon Pearce, “Conveys what Simon Pearce is all about . . . quality, simplicity, elegance, everyday functionality . . . which helps us convert new customers.”

When a person who wasn’t familiar with our products came to our site, or when new lines of products were announced, it was hard for visitors to completely appreciate the quality of design and craftsmanship that we offer. The addition of zoom view to our web site conveys what Simon Pearce is all about . . . quality, simplicity, elegance, everyday functionality . . . which helps us convert new customers.
